Description: Press releases can be developed by the media relations team as a tool to conduct outreach to the media in an effort to garner third-party endorsements and raise awareness of initiatives around campus, including the introduction of new research, plans to host an impressive speaker on campus, faculty appointments, gifts to the University, etc. If you have news to share and think that a press release might be the appropriate communication vehicle to spread your message, please contact the team and they will work with you to develop an effective communications strategy. Media Alert
Audience: Media

Description: Description: Similar to press releases, media alerts are used as a tool to conduct outreach to the media in an effort to generate publicity and awareness around an important Loyola event or news item. Media alerts are shorter in length than press releases and are issued closer to the event date, serving as a final reminder to print and broadcast news assignment desks that an event is scheduled to take place. Media alerts are also an effective outlet when notifying local and national media that the University has experts available to comment on a current crisis or an important news story/social issue.
Faculty Experts Database
Audience: Media

Description: The Faculty Experts database, found in the University’s newsroom site, highlights the expertise areas of a number of faculty and staff members within the University. The database is intended to serve as an online reference guide for all media outlets searching for third-party experts to comment on, or interview for, a story. Description: The University Newsroom serves as a one-stop resource for media outlets and individuals looking for the most up-to-date information coming out of the University. The site includes all Loyola-issued press releases and media alerts, the Faculty Experts database, a Loyola-authored library, media contact information, Loyola facts and historical information, University policies and guidelines, University media outlets, and information on Loyola’s president, board of trustees, cabinet members, deans, and administrators.
e-News Alert

Description: Loyola e-News alerts are e-mails that deliver the latest press releases and media alerts to individuals who have voluntarily opted in as e-News subscribers. Media Interview Coordination
Audience: Faculty and Staff

Description: University policy states that all media interviews are to be coordinated through the media relations team within UMC. The group receives a number of media requests each month. If a media outlet contacts you directly, please contact UMC. Our team will assist with coordinating the interview, selecting a location, finalizing messaging, etc. Our experts are here to help.
Press Conferences

Description: Press conferences allow the University to gather media representatives in a single location to make an important public announcement. The media relations team will work with you and develop an effect media relations strategy when you are hosting an event or releasing important information that warrants a press conference.
Media Training
Audience: Faculty and Staff

Description: Media training services are provided by the media relations team within UMC. Training can be customized for one individual or a much larger group. The training will prepare the individual(s) for potential print and/or broadcast media interviews, panel discussions, and other interactions with media.
Crisis Communications
Audience: Media, Public, Faculty, Staff, Current Students

Description: In the event of a crisis on campus, the media relations team will use a number of outlets to alert the Loyola community and provide the most up-to-date information. Communication vehicles include special broadcast e-mail messages, special broadcast voicemails, Loyola Alert, digital screens, LUC.edu, Inside Loyola online, press releases, and media alerts.
