Speaker of the Senate

Vinny Torossy

Vinny will be entering his third year as a member of USGA.  He is currently majoring in political science with minors in business administration and communication.  As a senator for the last two years, Vinny has served as the Chairman of the Facilities and Transportation Committee.  Under his leadership, the committee improved relations with administrators and helped to improve both the Shuttle and 8-Ride operations, as well as working on bringing news of new construction to the students of Loyola.  One of the larger accomplishments was the creation of 8-Ride's new "Rambler Route."  Vinny now serves his class as a junior senator and serves USGA as the Speaker of the Senate.

The Speaker of the Senate acts as the chair and presiding figure over USGA Senate meetings. He/She reserves rooms for meetings, invites administrators and student organizations to present, and facilitates productive conversations within USGA meetings. The speaker provides guidance to senators about initiatives, legislation, and how best to work with administrators. He/She also represents the Senate's voice in Executive meetings.
