Department Sites

The following steps are for Site Content Coordinators who have been authorized by their school, division, department or office to develop official pages.

  1. Decide who will be responsible for the development of your pages
    • Identify a Site Content Coordinator who will be accountable for assigned Web duties, under the direction of the university's NewWeb team from Marketing Communication Services (MCS) and Information Services (IS).
    • Identify whether your organization has the resources to develop the site on its own, or whether it will need the assistance of the NewWeb Team.
  2. Get access
    • Acquire an ID on Orion, Loyola's Web server. In order to be visible on the Web, your files need to reside in a specific directory on Orion. You have the option of creating your files there, or creating them elsewhere and transferring them. Refer to LUC Web 101: How Do I Get an Orion Account? for more information.
    • Once you have received confirmation about your Orion ID, contact webmaster@luc.edu to request space on Orion and/or access to your pages.
  3. Develop your area's pages
    • Loyola schools, divisions, departments, offices and organizations are required to use approved Loyola templates that offer a consistent design and content message. For more information about working with official university templates, please consult the Web Style Guide.
    • Create your Web files and transfer them to Orion. Click here for information about:
    • Take advantage of internal planning, design and development consultation services. These services are provided by the the NewWeb Team.
  4. Publish your pages
    • When your project is complete, the NewWeb Team will review your pages before they go live. When you are ready to publish your organization's pages, webmaster@luc.edu to schedule this review.
    • Are you done?
If you need your pages linked to other Loyola pages, contact webmaster@luc.edu and request that a link be made from the files in your Orion directory to the university Web.
