NEW STUDENT CONVOCATION

4 PM • EAST QUAD   (if it rains, you will receive directions at your commuter or residence hall floor meetings)

Mandatory for new students.

The New-Student Convocation is an annual tradition where all entering students are inducted to their graduating class and their academic careers officially begin. Students are welcomed to the University community by the president, provost, and vice president of Student Development as well as by faculty, and staff. Dining Halls Open
Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served in both Lake Shore Dining and Simpson Dining. VisitLUC.edu/dining for hours of operations.

Information Commons

Look for an e-mail inviting you to participate. This online questionnaire takes roughly a half hour to complete and can be done either at your own leisure or on the hour in the Information Commons. To learn more, visit LUC.edu/firstyearsurvey
  Morning Run
8 a.m. + 9 a.m. + 10 a.m.
Halas Sports Center 

Join students and staff from Campus Recreation and the Running Club for a morning jog around the
neighborhood and lakefront! Storage will be provided for keys/IDs, but leave behind all other personal belongings (phones, cameras, etc.).
University Libraries Scavenger Hunt
8:30 and 9:30 a.m. 
Cudahy Library and Information Commons

Learn (almost) everything there is to know about the University Libraries and win prizes. Discover library resources, services, and much more while on a hunt through Cudahy Library and the Information Commons. One lucky winner will walk away with the grand prize of a Kindle 3G. Stop by so you don’t miss out. Max: 100 participants each hour.
  First-Year Residence Hall Floor Meeting

All on-campus students are required to meet with their resident assistants for a mandatory floor meeting. 
  Commuter Meeting

Are you a commuter? Attend the commuter meeting and meet with Assistant Dean of Students for Off-Campus Student Life, Cliff Golz. Learn about off and on campus resources that will be helpful to commuters at Loyola.
  Convocation Walk

MANDATORY FOR NEW STUDENTS

Join all new students in Loyola’s annual Convocation Walk, the procession led by your student body president, Sean Vera. The route will take you through Cudahy’s ceremonial South Door and end at the New-Student Convocation.

MANDATORY FOR NEW STUDENTS 

Engage in a small group discussion on the First-Year Common Reader, No Impact Man. Professors and members of the Division of Student Development will facilitate discussions. In addition to the book discussion, take advantage of your time with facilitators to inquire about academic life on campus. Sponsored by academic affairs.
Sex Signals (Show #1)
7-8:30 p.m.
Centennial Forum Student Union, Mullady Theater

Blending a unique combination of improvisational comedy, education, and audience participation, Sex Signals provides a provocative look at the issues of dating and sex on college campuses. The residence hall floor with the highest percentage of attendees will receive a party courtesy of the Wellness Center and Student Activities and Greek Affairs. 
Loyola-Opoly!
7–11 p.m. • Halas Sports Center,
2nd Floor

Come to Halas Sports Center for a night of live action board game fun. Enjoy food, games, sports, and prizes as you play Loyola’s version of Monopoly.

  First Trip to Target (1 of 2)
11 p.m.–1 a.m.
Meet at the bus depot just outside of the parking structure

Take a trip to Target for anything you need or may have forgotten at home. Target has extended its hours exclusively for Loyola students. The final bus departs from Target at 1 a.m. to return students back to campus. Please purchase only what you can carry!
