NEW STUDENT CONVOCATION

Mandatory for new students.

The New Student Convocation is an annual tradition when all entering students are inducted into their graduating class, and their academic careers officially begin at Loyola University Chicago. Students are welcomed to the University community by the president, provost, vice president of Student Development, faculty, and staff. More information about Convocation is available here.

Dining Halls Open

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be served in the Damen Student Center and Simpson dining halls.  Visit LUC.edu/dining for hours of operations.

First-Year IMPACT Survey

The IMPACT survey gathers input from all first-years to understand and improve student experiences at Loyola.  Your confidential responses will make an IMPACT at Loyola! Students will get course credit and prizes (hundreds available, including an iPad):  luc.edu/impactsurvey

University Libraries Scavenger Hunt

Cudahy Library and Information Commons

Learn (almost) everything there is to know about the University’s libraries. Discover library resources, services, and much more while exploring Cudahy Library and the Information Commons. Start the hunt any time between 10 a.m. and noon. Complete it for a chance to win great prizes!

First-Year Residence Hall Community Meetings

All students who live on campus are required to meet with their residence hall staff for a mandatory community meeting. Look for signs or speak with a staff member from your building for your specific meeting location.

Get connected to Loyola! Off-Campus Student Life will provide you with an opportunity to speak with our staff, gain insight into campus resources, and ask questions to a panel of upper-class commuter students. After the meeting we'll join the class of 2017 for the Convocation Walk.

MANDATORY FOR NEW STUDENTS
Join all new student in Loyola's annual Convocation Walk, the procession led by your Student Pody President, Pedro Guerrero. The route will take you through Cudahy's ceremonial South Door and end at the New Student Convocation.

Engage in small group discussion on the One Book, One University text, Mountains Beyond Mountains, facilitated by Loyola's faculty members. In addition to the book discussion, take advantage of your time with facilitators to inquire about academic life. Sponsored by Academic Affairs. (Dinner will be provided).

Welcome to the Halas Recreation Center and the Campus Recreation Department! Come in  and get t-shirts, gift cards, fitness orientations, climb on the rock wall and compete in our annual cake walk! Come see what Campus Recreation can do for you!

Introduce yourself to one of the newest additions to the Loyola Lake Shore Campus. The Arnold J. Damen, S.J., Student Center is your new “home” on campus! Join us for activities, music, games, prizes, movie screenings, food, and more! Co-hosted by ((dop)) student organization and Department of Student Centers.

Sex Signals

Blending a unique combination of improvisational comedy, education, and audience participation, Sex Signals provides a provocative look at the issues of dating and sex on college campuses. The show uses humor throughout to laugh about the differences between men and women and engage audiences in candid discussions about how we treat one another. Also, learn more information about Loyola’s Wellness Center and services. The residence hall floor with the highest percentage of attendees will receive a party courtesy of the Wellness Center and Student Activities & Greek Affairs.

Trip to Target
11 p.m.–1 a.m.
Meet at the bus terminal by the parking structure

Take a trip to Target for anything you need or may have forgotten at home. Target has extended its hours exclusively for Loyola students. The final bus will depart from Target at midnight to return students back to campus. PLEASE PURCHASE ONLY WHAT YOU CAN CARRY.
