Take a Deep Breath : Weekly Mindfulness Meditation

Mondays 4:30-5:30 pm at the Wellness Center

Peaceful Mind: Mindfulness Group to Better Manage Feelings of Anxiety or Depression

Wednesdays 4:00- 5:30 pm at the Wellness Center

Orientation Sessions: February 1st, 8th, 15th

An 8-week mindfulness based program to help individuals better manage feelings of anxiety or depression. Participants will receive a free handbook and CD to help with the daily homework throughout the course. Keep Calm and Carry On: An 8-Week Mindfulness Based Program for Stress Relief and Emotional Balance

Thursdays 3-4:30 pm at the Wellness Center

Dates: February 2nd, 9th, 16th

MBSR was developed at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in 1979. Since then, this program has been brought to various settings, including universities, and it has been proven to help participants learn new ways to manage their stress reactivity. Participants will receive a free handbook and CD to help with their daily practice throughout the course. Dissertation and Thesis Support Group

Fridays 2:30—3:30pm

Do you find the research and writing process isolating? Are you having difficulty managing your time? Completing research projects is difficult work-but you do not have to do it alone. Please attend a weekly group facilitated by Wellness Center clinical psychologist David de Boer, Ph.D. Members of this ongoing, interactive group commit to support, cajole and encourage one another in overcoming blocks to productivity and moving forward with you project. This group is open to graduate students at any stage of completing either a master’s thesis or a doctoral dissertation. Dating Violence Information and Support Group

Thursdays at 12 PM in the CFSU Chamber Room

Start date: February 2, 2012

If you’ve experienced violence in a dating or intimate relationship, you’re not alone. This drop-in support group, led by the YWCA Evanston-North Shore, will allow survivors of dating violence to connect with others in a supportive and caring environment. Support Group for Survivors of Sexual Violence

Wednesdays 3:30-5:30 pm at Northwestern University Women’s Center 710 N. Lake Shore Drive, Chicago

Women of Color Group

Fridays 11:30-12:30 pm

This is a group designed for students who are women of color at Loyola University Chicago. We will focus on the issues and concerns that women of color struggle have and explore ways to help ourselves and one another

Nutrition Workshop at the Wellness Center

Preparing your own meals? Struggling trying to find healthy snacks to keep in your dorm room? Does grocery shopping for healthy food seem to be a challenge? When it comes to healthy eating, the grocery store is often the place to start. The healthier the options, the healthier you will be eating! You Are Not Alone: Group for Sexual Assault Survivors

This group will provide Loyola students who are survivors of sexual assault and sexual abuse an opportunity to enhance their understanding of the healing process, coping skills, self-acceptance and empowerment in an atmosphere of mutual support.  Alcoholics Anonymous

Beginning on Tuesdays 1:30-2:30 PM in CFSU, this is a meeting offered to Loyola students  who are contemplating sobriety or interested in using a 12-Step program to help tackle alcohol abuse. The group is anonymous and confidential.
