Emily is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who joined the Wellness Center in Fall 2013. Emily received her undergraduate degree from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in Psychology and Child Psychology and earned her Master's Degree in Social Work at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. After graduate school, Emily completed a one year fellowship in a primary care clinic through the Division of Adolescent/Young Adult Medicine at Boston Children's Hospital. There, she worked with a multidiciplinary team and received intensive training in conducting eating disorder assessments, crisis management and individual counseling for adolescents with mental health concerns. Emily's previous work has also included counseling all ages in a community mental health center and providing vocational rehabilitation for adults with serious and persistent mental illnesses. Emily most recently worked at an inpatient psychiatric hospital for adolescents with acute psychiatric concerns. There she led family meetings focused on psychoeducation, conducted brief counseling, case management and group therapy. Emily's clinical interests include mood and anxiety disorders, crisis management, life transitions and adjustments, and serious and persistent mental illness. Outside of work, Emily enjoys staying active by running and spinning, keeping in touch with friends and family and thinking about all the animals she wishes to adopt.
