The Wellness Center offers a variety of educational and therapy groups each semester. All groups are free to students. See below to learn more about current offerings:
Take a Deep Breath - Weekly Mindfulness Meditation
Mondays 4:30-5:30 pm
Instruction for new members from 4:30‑4:45 pm at the Wellness Center
Start Date: September 13th through December 6th
Learn how to meditate and incorporate it into your daily life! Sessions are ongoing, newcomers welcome.

Peaceful Mind: Mindfulness Group to Better Manage Feelings of Anxiety or Depression
Wednesdays 4:00- 5:30 pm at the Wellness Center
Information Sessions: September 8th, 15th, and 29th
An 8-week mindfulness based program to help individuals better manage feelings of anxiety or depression. Participants will receive a free handbook and CD to help with the daily homework throughout the course. Contact Dianna at 508-2544 for more information or attend one of the orientation meetings noted above.
Prescription for Stress Relief: Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction for Stressed Students
Tuesdays 4:00-5:30pm at the Wellness Center
Dates: September 7th, 14th, 28th
MBSR was developed at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in 1979. Since then, this program has been brought to various settings, including universities, and it has been proven to help participants learn new ways to manage their stress reactivity. Participants will receive a free handbook and CD to help with their daily practice throughout the course. Attend a required orientation session to see if this group is for you. Interpersonal Process Group: Emotional Intelligence and Relationships
Mondays 4:00 – 5:30pm at the Wellness Center (contact Emily 508-2748)

Would you like to further your self-understanding? Are you the kind of person who wants to become more self-aware? Group therapy speeds up the personal growth process by allowing members to explore with and learn from others. Contact a group facilitator for more information.
Dissertation and Thesis Support Group
Fridays 2:00—3:15pm
Start Date: September 24th
Completing research projects is difficult work – but you do not have to do it alone. This group is open to graduate students at any stage in the process of completing either a master’s thesis or a doctoral dissertation. To request group membership, please contact Shenay Bridges at 773-508-8876.
Nutrition Workshops

The Wellness Center’s Registered Dietician will be putting on workshops throughout the Spring 2010 semester. Workshops will be advertised via flyers, Loyola Focus, and the Wellness Center website, or you can contact Lindsey at 508-2745 or lkrumre@luc.edu for more information.
Dating Violence Support Group
Mondays 6:00—7:00pm in Crown Center 108
Start Dates: September 13th—October 11th
(New members are welcome to join us between 9/13—10/11, after which the group will be closed to new members. If you are unable to join us in these first weeks, a second round of the group will run from October 18th—November 15th)
If you’ve experienced violence in a dating or intimate relationship, you’re not alone. This drop-in support group, led by the YWCA Evanston-North Shore, will allow survivors of dating violence to connect with others in a supportive and caring environment. Open Alcoholic Anonymous (AA) Meeting
For anyone who desires to stop drinking, AA provides a fellowship of men and women with the primary purpose of staying sober and helping other alcoholics achieve sobriety. Fridays from 4pm-5pm in CFSU Chamber room. For more information contact Natasha Mmeje at 773-508-3196.
