Curriculum Development

Review diversity-related offerings within your unit

  • As a first step, an academic unit may wish to conduct an audit of its diversity-related course offerings. Doing so may reveal what areas have adequate coverage and where there is room for improvement. For example, some CORE courses have a designation that indicates they cover diversity issues. This allows one to see where there is room to build diversity into the existing curriculum.

Bias & Inclusivity (interdisciplinary)

  • In response to student requests for new curriculum, an interdisciplinary team (from psychology, sociology, social work, education, SDMA) created a new undergraduate course. Currently offered as PSCY 386, this course introduces students to the concept of how privilege, power, and oppression shape ourselves, perceptions of others, and our social world. Students explore their own cultural identities, values, and biases. This course may be offered from any discipline.
