July 27, 2022

 Dear Faculty and Staff,

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Marilee Bresciani Ludvik, PhD, as associate provost and director of the Office of Institutional Effectiveness at Loyola University Chicago. Her appointment is effective October 17, 2022.

Bresciani Ludvik will provide leadership in institutional research and the use of data for planning, implementation, and monitoring. She will coordinate institutional research, learning outcomes assessment, institutional reporting, and projects to align operations and future strategic and budgetary plans with analytical data. Her expertise will help energize and inform our Strategic Planning process by developing key performance indicators and promoting continuous improvement.

A national leader in driving and measuring outcomes, Bresciani Ludvik brings extensive experience as a scholar and administrator to this important leadership role. She comes to Loyola from the University of Texas at Arlington, where she has served as chair and professor of the Educational Leadership and Policy Studies department. Prior to that, she served as professor of postsecondary educational leadership at San Diego State University, assistant vice president of Institutional Assessment at Texas A&M University and in a variety of student affairs, academic affairs, and alumni relations leadership roles.

She received her PhD from the University of Nebraska in administration, curriculum, and instruction with an emphasis in higher education, and her MA in teaching from Hastings College.  Her research centers on social and emotional neuroscience in curriculum design and methodology to foster competencies, advance student success, and close equity gaps.  She has written 13 books, more than 200 scholarly articles, and worked with hundreds of institutions and leaders on organizational assessment and decision-making processes.

I extend a special thank you to Eileen Edejer, PhD, and Brian Erdman, PhD, for serving as interim co-chairs over the past several months and into this fall. In addition, my gratitude goes to the search committee who devoted many hours of diligent work to this successful outcome.
