Frequently Asked Questions
- All students are eligible to pursue NTC, but not all students need NTC to satisfy program requirements or credit hours needed to graduate.
- Meet with your academic advisor in your first session to determine:
- Whether or not you need to earn NTC.
- Whether or not earning NTC benefit you.
- You can make this determination using your Academic Requirements Report (ARR) and your Microsoft Excel degree audit provided to you by your academic advisor.
- Your ARR includes the hours you have completed and the hours you have remaining to complete your degree. You can use this to project your graduation date.
- Your Excel degree audit is not an official an official University record.
- If you will be taking no more than 45 hours at Loyola to complete your degree, you are not eligible to pursue NTC. NTC does not apply to the 45 credit hour Loyola residency requirement.
- Students must complete half of their major courses at Loyola.
- Students may complete up to half of the major courses via transfer credit and/or NTC.
- Students may complete up to 4 courses within the major via NTC.
- Students may complete up to two courses in a minor via transfer credit and/or NTC.
- Students may apply up to 36 NTC hours to their degree program. This is a HUGE cost saving!
- Students must send transcripts of all completed NTC to Loyola for posting no later than the semester prior to the semester of graduation.
- Ex. If a student plans to graduate in the summer, all NTC must be completed and posted to the student’s LOCUS account by the last day of the spring semester.
- Students are not eligible to complete NTC for courses they have already taken. This includes courses a student started and dropped and/or classes where the students earned a non-passing grade.
