Loyola University Chicago

Arrupe College

Summer Enrichment Program

All incoming students to Arrupe College must successfully complete the mandatory Summer Enrichment Program (SEP) in order to begin taking classes in the fall. Please note that there are no exceptions for family vacations, athletic tournaments, or other summer programming.

SEP runs from Sunday, August 6 through Friday, August 18, 2017. ‌Please see the full schedule for further details.

Retreat

During SEP, students attend a three-day retreat at LUREC (Loyola University Retreat and Ecology Campus) and a week of enrichment courses with faculty and campus partners.

Students will be divided into two groups for the weekend retreat at LUREC. Students must sign up for one of the following weekends for the retreat:

  • Group 1:
    • August 6–8: Weekend retreat at LUREC
  • Group 2:
    • August 8 from 10:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m.: First advisory session and introduction to campus resources
  • All students:
    • August 14-18: SEP continues at Arrupe College

Again, attendance for all events related to SEP is mandatory.

Please note that you are required to stay at LUREC for the duration of the retreat. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks will be provided. You should pack for a three-day stay, and since you’ll spend most of your time participating in outdoors activities with your peers, you should bring clothes and comfortable shoes that you won’t mind getting wet, muddy, torn, or stained. Students should bring their grey Arrupe shirt to be worn on the last day of the retreat.

You’ll take a bus from Maguire Hall at Loyola’s Water Tower Campus to Woodstock, IL, and you’ll ride a bus back after the retreat.
