Admission > Summer Orientation
The Spirit of Arrupe
All incoming students to Arrupe College must successfully complete a mandatory summer orientation program in order to begin taking classes in the fall.
Please note that there are no exceptions for family vacations, athletic tournaments, or other summer programming.
As part of orientation, students attend a three-day retreat at LUREC (the Loyola University Retreat and Ecology Campus).
Students will be divided into two groups for the weekend retreat at LUREC. Students will be assigned to one of two retreats:
- Group 1: August 4–6, 2019
- Group 2: August 7–9, 2019
Please note that you are required to stay at LUREC for the duration of the retreat. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks will be provided. You should pack for a three-day stay, and since you’ll spend most of your time participating in outdoor activities with your peers, you should bring clothes and comfortable shoes that you won’t mind getting wet, muddy, torn, or stained.
You’ll take a bus from Maguire Hall at Loyola’s Water Tower Campus to LUREC in Woodstock, IL, and you’ll ride a bus back after the retreat.
Here are suggestions on what you should pack.
Wednesday, August 14 - Friday, August 16
Starting Wednesday, August 14, students will begin their on-campus orientation. Students must be on time and attend every orientation session in order to start school in the fall. The on-campus orientation runs for three days, and will conclude on August 16.
On-campus orientation will include introductions to key components of Arrupe College’s curriculum and programs, an orientation to technology at Arrupe College, and an introduction to campus life and resources. Find out about what to pack.
More information on Arrupe College’s summer orientation program will be made available as students are accepted and make a deposit to attend Arrupe College.
