Fahad Alnimah - Baumhart Scholar
Fahad is a Program Manager at Upwardly Global, a non-profit organization founded in 1999 with mission to eliminate employment barriers for skilled immigrants and refugees and integrate this population into the professional U.S. workforce. Upwardly Global has supported thousands of foreign-born skilled job seekers in transitioning from poverty or exclusion to quality, thriving-wage careers. Fahad’s role focuses on program oversight, and he is responsible for mapping out key local and regional partnerships, providing evaluation of programs and services, and working closely with external partners in the region. By working directly with highly skilled and qualified job seekers to explore career pathways, Fahad is motivated to further the organization’s objectives and to eradicate the problem of unequal opportunities in employment.
Fahad has a robust foundation of experiences. Prior to his current role, Fahad worked with the United Nations World Food Program as the Senior Program Associate where he was tasked with responding to the humanitarian crises linked to the Syrian conflict and the internal displacement in Iraq. Driven by his passion for the cause of zero hunger, his focus was on educational programs, and he helped design, implement and administer school feeding programs to tackle the problem of hunger and poor nourishment among young children and increase enrollment in local schools. Fahad also worked actively to promote the production of local food commodities with the end-goal of building sustainable and self-reliant communities.
