Media Director, Wavemaker

Shalane Walker is a Media Director at Wavemaker, part of the WPP advertising network. In her current role, she oversees a team leading media planning and execution for the U.S. government’s national Covid-19 Vaccine Public Education Campaign, with advertising expenditures of more than $250 million. She is also an adjunct professor at Michigan State University where she teaches digital advertising strategies to the next generation of marketers.

She began her career developing media strategies for Bank of America, Procter and Gamble, and Anheuser-Busch. From 2013-2016, she worked overseas in Dubai, bringing to life new advertising touchpoints for brands such as Carefree and Listerine. She also helped co-found and co-lead Cheer Dubai, the first adult cheerleading team in Dubai.

Outside of her client work, she is actively involved in the people and culture team at Wavemaker. Her focus is on diversity recruiting and retention, as well as building stronger teams within her office. She is committed to improving opportunities for historically excluded communities by creating spaces where everyone can thrive and succeed.

She is an avid traveler, having journeyed to 28 states and more than 25 countries around the world. She is the proud mother of a middle school daughter who accompanies her on many of her travels exploring the world.
