John O’Malley

The Loyola University Chicago community mourns the death of John O’Malley, former professor of business.

John taught Business Law at Loyola University Chicago for 60 years from 1953-2013, teaching more than 15,000 students, the longest serving Professor in Loyola’s history. In addition to being a full time tenured professor, he was a long-serving trust officer at Harris Bank Winnetka and the First National Bank of Highland Park. Sir John was knighted four times by the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St. George, and the Order of Saints Maurice and Lazarus. John served in the US Army during World War II, the Berlin Mobilization and left the reserves as a Major in 1966.
