Kale A. Williams Jr.
The Loyola University Chicago community mourns the death of Kale Williams Jr., senior scholar at the Center for Urban Research and Learning (CURL) from 1996 to 2006. Kale passed away on January 7.
Prior to joining Loyola, Kale’s commitment to human rights included marching in 1966 in Chicago with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to promote open housing. He later served for 20 years as executive director of the Leadership Council for Metropolitan Open Communities. Kale served as an inspiration and role model to many students, faculty, and staff while at the University.
A memorial service in Chicago is being planned for the spring. Condolences can be sent to Kale’s wife, Helen Williams in care of CURL, Cuneo Hall, Room 413, Lake Shore Campus.
Please remember this family in your prayers.
