Summer Student Research Internship at LUMC Oncology Institute

Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center, Health Sciences Division

The Oncology Research Institute welcomes applications from LUC undergraduate science majors for a ten-week, full time research internship at Loyola’s Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center, HSD, on the Maywood campus.  The internships will begin on May 18, 2020 and are open to all current LUC freshmen, sophomores, and juniors.  The approximately eight student interns will receive supervised research experience in on-going basic science research projects related to human cancer currently in progress at the Cancer Center.  A stipend will be awarded to the student interns who are accepted for this summer program.  The goal of this program is to promote and advance the educational and professional career goals of student interns by engaging them in the planning and carrying out of experiments, collecting data and preparing to report on results and their conclusions.  Interns’ work will be guided and supervised by HSD faculty and their laboratory staff personnel.  An important component of the internship will be participation in a symposium on July 27, 2020.   At this symposium, each intern will give a ten-minute presentation explaining his/her project and data s/he obtained.  Please follow the link in order to apply for this internship.  Please note that the application deadline is February 20, 2020.  No application that arrives later than February 20 will be given consideration; this includes the required faculty recommendation, so please solicit this as soon as possible. Questions can be addressed to Fr. Breslin, S.J., personally in his office, Quinlan LSB 442, or at pbresli@luc.edu
