Loyola Responds to Hurricane Harvey

August 29, 2017

Dear Members of the Loyola Community,

As you know, Hurricane Harvey has resulted in a devastating amount of rain in Texas’s Gulf Coast region, leading to severe flooding, significant property damage, and loss of life.

Among those affected are nearly 900 Loyola alumni and several of our students from the region. Loyola staff is reaching out to those groups, and we ask that you keep these members of our Loyola family in your prayers along with everyone touched by this storm. If you choose to make a donation, Catholic Charities USA is one of the respected agencies providing disaster relief. The agency is accepting donations on its website, or you may also text CCUSADISASTER to 71777. In addition to financial donations, the American Red Cross has put out an emergency call for blood donations. You can find more information on their website.

Prayers for those impacted by Hurricane Harvey will be offered at our upcoming campus Masses, and we also encourage members of our community to attend our ecumenical Taizé prayer service on Wednesday, August 30, at 9:30 p.m. in Madonna della Strada Chapel.

Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

Lisa Reiter
Director of Campus Ministry
