COVID-19 Updates

COVID-19 Update 6/26

Halas Community,
Halas Recreation Center is currently closed and we are unable to establish a re-open date at this time. We are aware that other recreation centers and gyms may be open per the state of Illinois Phase 4 regulations, but our facility must follow university opening procedures for the entire campus.  We are planning to update our patrons in the coming weeks with our opening date. Campus Recreation is tentatively planning for a return to operation date that aligns with the start of the academic year.
Current Memberships and services/lockers

  • Those of you who hold current memberships and locker services, we will continue to work with you. Current memberships will be extended or pro-rated to reflect the closure dates automatically and you will not need to do anything.
  • For those who had spring services or membership, you have already received a credit to your account and do not need to do anything at this time. We will notify you of the next steps for you to take.
  • For those of you who have items in lockers, your items are safe. We will notify you with options to retrieve items once we are able to resume operations.

Incoming/returning students/Members

  • We will provide updates on our website, as well as via email and social media platforms, regarding use of Halas Recreation Center and Campus Recreation programs.
  • We will also inform our members of new protocols for operating Halas as they become solidified. Our team has been hard at work at establishing cleaning and safety measures as well as new policies for patrons.
  • We will offer a variety of virtual and in-person programming for students to engage and participate in as part of their experience in the fall. Be on the lookout for programming related to Intramural Sports, Club Sports, Fitness, and Ramble Outdoors. We can’t wait to get a chance to program for you!
