Intramural Sports

What is Intramural Sports?

Intramural Sports are organized, recreational programs and games that allow the Loyola community to participate in team and individual sports in either tournament or league style. Intramural Sports are offered in both the Fall and Spring semesters and are FREE to play for all students and open to all skill levels! All intramural games are played in the Halas Rec Center or at Sean Earl Field. Every intramural champion receives one of our coveted intramural champion t-shirts!

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I register a team?

All registration will take place online using IMLeaguesDetailed instructions for using the online system can be found on the Intramural Sports Registration page and registration dates can be found on IMLeagues.com.

When and where do Intramural Sports games take place?

Most intramural sports games take place either at Halas Recreation Center or Sean Earl Field. Games are typically played throughout the day on Sundays and in the evenings Monday-Thursday.

Is there anything I need to bring to play?

Yes, all participants are required to show their LUC ID prior to any intramural game in order to check in. Any participant who does not have their LUC ID will not be allowed to check in and play.

How much does it cost to play Intramural Sports?

All intramural sports are FREE to play! 

How many hours a week do Intramurals take?

Each team will receive one game per week during league play. These games typically last around one hour. During playoffs, teams may play more than once depending on the tournament bracket. 

Can I play on two teams in the same sport?

Yes, as long as one of the teams is a co-rec team! Players can play for one open, fraternity, or women’s team AND one co-rec team. A male is not permitted to play on both an open team and a fraternity team, or two open teams while a female is not permitted to play on both an open and a women's team, or two women's teams. No player is permitted to play on two co-rec teams.  

Is there a certain athletic skill required to play Intramural Sports?

Not at all! The Intramural Sports program welcomes the Loyola community to get involved. Athletes of all skill levels and experience levels are invited and encouraged to participate.  

Can I still participate in Intramural Sports even if I don’t have a team?

Absolutely! If you don’t have a team for a specific sport, you can register as a Free Agent in that sport. However, due to a large number of interested individuals, and limited space, we are unfortunately unable to guarantee that everyone will get a chance to play on a team.
