Title/s: Advisor, College of Arts & Sciences (Sciences)
Erin Banicki is a career advisor for the College of Arts and Sciences, supporting students and alumni from the natural/hard sciences. Erin has a master’s degree from DePaul University in counseling, concentrating in college student development, and completed her clinical internship at Northwestern University Career Advancement office. Erin brings her own experiences as a career changer to her understanding of career development, and she is passionate about self-exploration within the process of finding meaningful work. Her holistic advising approach considers the student within all contexts of their life, and encourages students to clarify their interests, values, and strengths so they can move forward in career decision-making. She is a big supporter of experiential learning as a means to better understand the self and the world of work, whether through study abroad, research, internships, or service learning. Erin’s advice to students is to follow their curiosity, and not be afraid to change direction, because career is not always a straight path. Erin holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa in international studies and geography.
