As the violence and acts of terrorism perpetrated by ISIS continue to dominate the news cycle, we want to step back and talk about what is really motivating the ISIS militants. They claim the mantle of Islam, but is this genuine? Are they motivated by Islam, or something else? There is wide consensus that neither ISIS nor its stated objectives accurately reflect the nuances of Islam, but how does the American Muslim community - and the Chicago and LUC Muslim communities more specifically - view radical Islam? What light does history shed on these troubling events, and how do faithful Muslims feel about this? Finally, are there ways that the community of committed Christians/Catholics can help?
