Academic Regalia

Please click on one of the sections below for regalia information about your specific degree or area of study, which includes a link to order regalia and other Commencement-related items. Also provided in this section is information about how different fields of study are distinguished by various regalia colors.

All regalia will be shipped directly to student’s homes. All regalia pieces are kept by the graduate; no returns are necessary. Students are responsible for providing their correct address when ordering regalia.

Regalia Deadlines

Friday, February 19	If you would like to submit a photo in your regalia for your student recognition slide, please order by this date to ensure your regalia arrives in time to take and upload a photo to the registration site. This applies to both domestic & international students.
Monday, March 1	If you are sending your regalia to an international address, please order by this date to ensure it arrives in advance of the May 2021 Commencement Week. Please visit the FAQ page to learn more about how customs may impact your regalia order.
Monday, March 15	If you are sending your regalia to a domestic address, please order by this date to ensure it arrives in advance of May 2021 Commencement Week.
Friday, April 16	This is the final date to order regalia, regardless of location. No guarantee of arrival by May 2021 Commencement Week. This applies to both domestic and international students. *Students must order regalia via phone after this date and a $20 charge will be assessed. Students can call the Jostens call center at (800) 854-7464 to place their order after April 16.

Laudatory Status (Bachelor's Degree only)

Bachelor’s degree graduates who have completed a degree with academic distinction are identified by the burgundy and gold honor cords worn around the neck.

Honor cords will be sent to students within their celebration packages prior to Commencement Week.

A degree may be awarded:

Cum Laude, with praise, representing an overall scholastic achievement of at least 3.5 out of a possible 4.0.
Magna Cum Laude, with great praise, for a scholastic average of at least 3.7.
Summa Cum Laude, with highest praise, representing an overall scholastic average of at least 3.9.

Doctoral Ordering Information

Doctoral students have the alternative option to order fine quality regalia. Please follow the same order link below and select fine quality regalia if you would like to order fine quality regalia.

Both regalia options, fine quality regalia and student quality regalia, will be shipped directly to graduates homes and are nearly identical in appearance. The fine quality regalia is often purchased by graduates that expect to stay in academia.
