This 2019 New Student Convocation will be held on Friday, August 23, at the Lake Shore Campus.
Students will attend their respective residence hall floor meeting or the commuter student meeting on campus. These meetings are required for all new students and will provide you with important information about living on campus or commuting to campus.
All new students will participate in the annual Convocation Walk, a procession led by your student body president. The route will take you through Cudahy Library's ceremonial green doors and end at the New Student Convocation in Gentile Arena. As students approach the end of the Convocation Walk they will enter into a vibrant and spirited 'welcome tunnel' formed by members of the faculty and staff. This year's Convocation Walk will be held on Friday, August 23, at 2:45 p.m. on the East Quad. (Rain location: Gentile Arena at 4:00 p.m.)
First-Year Text Discussions
Students should be prepared to discuss the 2019 first-year text, Ghosts in the Schoolyard, provided at Orientation (or sent to you via mail). It is important that you take time to read it so you can get the most of your discussion of the book with a Loyola faculty or staff member after New Student Convocation. Book discussions will be held at 5:00 p.m. at various locations.
