Building Access Updates: Spring 2021

Dear Faculty,

As the spring term begins, I am sharing an update about building access. Before you access any buildings, it is important that you review and follow the Return to Campus Checklist for testing and safety. Your participation in Loyola’s surveillance testing program is required to maintain campus access throughout the semester.

Lake Shore Campus
Continuing our policy from fall 2020, all academic buildings on Lake Shore Campus will be open only to faculty and students who have classes, labs, or research in that building. These faculty and students will need to swipe their Loyola ID cards to gain access. Access will be turned on 1.5 hours before their class start time and continue for one hour after their class ends.

Entry doors for academic buildings:

  • Crown Center—both sets of doors accessible
  • Cudahy Science Building—west doors only
  • Cuneo Hall—all doors accessible
  • McCormick Lounge in Coffey Hall—south doors only
  • Mundelein Center—west doors only, except for ADA access on east side
  • School of Environmental Sustainability—both sets of west doors
  • Sullivan Center—north doors only
  • Quinlan Life Science Building/Flanner Hall—all doors accessible

These Lake Shore Campus buildings will be open for general use during the spring term:

  • Damen Student Center
  • Halas Rec Center—students only
  • Loyola Information Commons—faculty, staff, and students only
  • Sullivan Center—north doors only
  • Wellness Center in Granada

Water Tower Campus
The Schreiber Center will be open to faculty and students who have classes in the building. The hours of operation are still being determined. These faculty and students will need to swipe their Loyola ID cards to gain access up to 1.5 hours before their class start time and one hour after their class ends.

These Water Tower Campus buildings will be open for general use during the spring term:

  • Terry Student Center, including the Wellness Center
  • Lewis Library in Corboy Law Center

Health Sciences Campus
These campus buildings will be open for general use during the spring term:

  • Cuneo Center
  • Information Commons and Quiet Study

Lab access
For labs, like in the fall semester, students will be granted access to the building, but the faculty member is responsible for then allowing them into the lab. If a faculty member wants students to have access to a lab, please contact campusaccess@LUC.edu with student names and the hours they should be allowed to enter the lab.

Periodic access to offices in restricted buildings
All buildings not listed above are generally closed. As faculty may need to visit their office from time to time, we will continue to provide periodic access to restricted buildings on an established schedule. See the schedule and complete details in our November 19 message.

Thank you for all that you do for Loyola and its students.
