Reminder: File Your FAFSA Today to Qualify for HEERF II Funds
March 1, 2021
If you are receiving this email, it is because you may be eligible to file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) but have not yet completed one.
In January, the U.S. Department of Education (ED) announced additional funding available to institutions of higher education to serve students and ensure learning continues during the COVID-19 pandemic. This funding is allocated to the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund II (HEERF II) by the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, which was signed into law on December 27, 2020.
Loyola University Chicago anticipates opening up a HEERF II application so students can apply for these allocated funds. In the meantime, we are strongly recommending that students complete a FAFSA for the 2020-2021 academic year, as well as the FAFSA for the 2021-2022 academic year for continuing students. Having a completed FAFSA was one of the eligibility criteria for receiving HEERF Student Share grants distributed in 2020; while we are still awaiting additional guidance from ED, we expect a similar approach for HEERF II.
To access the FAFSA application, please visit studentaid.gov.
