Classroom Technology and the Faculty Webinar on Return to Campus
December 5, 2020
Today, as part of my series of emails outlining Loyola University Chicago’s plans for spring, I am focusing on classroom technology for HyFlex (dual-mode) teaching.
In HyFlex courses, the instructor facilitates class activities for on-campus and online students simultaneously. In addition to the standard equipment, classrooms for HyFlex courses are equipped with dual monitors at the instructor workstation, a camera facing the front of the room, microphones to capture the instructor and students, and speakers to hear online students.
Instructional Technology and Research Support (ITRS) and the Office of Online Learning (OOL) will be hosting a series of live webinars on HyFlex classrooms. Participants will be introduced to HyFlex classroom technologies, learn effective tips for using Zoom, and discover strategies for engaging in-person and digital students. The schedule can be found on the HyFlex Classrooms web page.
We are also offering individual training on HyFlex classroom technologies. An email invitation is being sent to all faculty teaching on campus in the spring. Sessions will start in early December and take place on campus in the assigned classroom. If an instructor did not receive an invitation, they can contact the ITS Service Desk at ITSServiceDesk@LUC.edu or 773.508.4487 to schedule a training session.
You can hear more on classroom technology from Daniel Vonder Heide, associate vice president for Information Services, at the faculty webinar on December 9.
Thank you for all that you do for Loyola and our students.
