Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update: 5:35 p.m.
Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff:
No confirmed incidents of coronavirus (COVID-19) involving our students, faculty, and staff
As stated in our 3/10/20 community message and update to our coronavirus website, as of today there are no confirmed incidents of coronavirus (COVID-19) involving our students, faculty, and staff, and none of the reported cases in the state have any connections to Loyola University Chicago.
We are aware of a student who was exposed to an individual who is currently being evaluated for COVID-19 and is awaiting testing results. We alerted the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) and we are working under the CDPH’s guidance. Out of an abundance of caution and in alignment with the CDPH, the student is in isolation on campus and is well. As we await test results, Loyola’s Wellness Center is following its protocol to isolate students when there is a suspected communicable disease.
As increased coronavirus (COVID-19) incidents are reported internationally and in the United States, Loyola continues to monitor the situation closely and remains committed to the health, wellbeing, and safety of our Loyola community. We continue to align our decisions with guidance from public health officials, including the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the City of Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH), the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), and the World Health Organization (WHO).
We will continue to update our coronavirus website on a regular basis.
Joan Holden, APRN, ANP-BC, Director of Wellness Center
