Congratulations, Class of 2020!
Dear Class of 2020,
You are being called upon in a special way during this crisis. Our hearts have broken along with yours, thinking about the rites of passage missed or experienced in a different way. The way you have adapted and persevered has inspired us all. We still plan to hold our rescheduled in-person commencement in August as conditions allow, but we did not want to let today pass without acknowledging what would have been a week of celebrating your graduation.
Please know what a privilege it was for us to teach you, learn from you, and now continue our relationship with you as our new alumni. You are our Sesquicentennial Class and will always hold a special place in the history of Loyola University Chicago. Today, our community raises a glass in toast to you and the time that we have spent together. We also toast to your accomplishments and to your future successes. We have no doubt that we will toast again many times as you go forth and set the world on fire!
Together in Loyola,
