CARES Act / HEERF Student Share Grant Funds
We’re happy to share with you an update concerning financial assistance for which you may be eligible under the federal government’s Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (“CARES Act”).
This unprecedented global pandemic has created unforeseen hardships on students, families, and our greater community. Fortunately, the CARES Act includes a Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) that provides emergency financial aid grants to eligible students for expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to the COVID-19 crisis (“HEERF Student Share Grant Funds”).
Students in associate’s, bachelor’s, graduate, professional, and certificate programs may apply for the HEERF Student Share Grant Funds.
As part of the application process, you will be asked to upload supporting documentation (e.g., receipts) or an explanation for expenses you incurred beginning March 13, 2020 related to the disruption of campus operations.
The University is developing an online application for students to apply for the HEERF Student Share Grant Funds. Pending availability of the online application later this month, the University encourages you to do the following:
- Review the sample Online Application included in Appendix A of the University’s HEERF Student Share Grant Policy
- Gather and organize documentation supporting the expenses you incurred related to the disruption of campus operations
- Review and update, as needed, your direct deposit information in LOCUS
- Review HEERF Student Share Grant FAQs and other information at LUC.edu/heerf.
The University will notify students via their Loyola email as soon as the online application form is available.
We recognize the importance of these emergency grants and are working diligently to keep you updated regarding their availability. Please continue to monitor the University’s website LUC.edu/coronavirus for updates on the HEERF grants and University plans for other financial relief resources.
