Trustee Jackie Taylor Holsten at the 1st Annual Holsten Scholars Luncheon.

Trustee Jackie Taylor Holsten introduced the Holsten Scholars program on Friday, December 12, 2014 at the first annual Holsten Scholars Luncheon. The Holsten Scholars program increases intern- and externship opportunities for Loyola students. The program currently recruits School of Law and School of Social Work students, but the Office of Corporate Engagement is working with the Holsten companies to expand this opportunity.

Past and current interns attended the luncheon and shared about their transformational experiences at Holsten and Loyola. Peter Tsurkis, a former intern at Holsten Human Capital Development and a current graduate of Loyola's School of Social Work remarked, "In addition to the clinical component Loyola trains their MSW students in, we are also taught to carefully scrutinize policy on all levels, and as a result, how policies effect a person in their environment."

School of Law Dean David Yellen, JD, and School of Social Work Dean Darrell Wheeler, PhD, MPH, were also present to celebrate the announcement with Ms. Holsten.
