Eligibility & Scholarship Information
Eligibility for all three CPELL programs (ESL endorsement only, English Teaching & Learning M.Ed. with English as a Second Language (ESL) endorsement, or the M.Ed. Teacher Leader and ESL with dual endorsements) can be found on the School of Education application requirements pages. In addition to the requirements listed, letters of recommendation for CPELL scholar applicants should include one from a building administrator and ideally one from the district office.
All CPELL cohort students must be currently employed in one of the nine district partner schools.
Currently CPELL scholarships are funded through the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of English Language Acquisition. Eligible candidates from the nine partner districts (Aptakisic-Tripp 102, Fairview 73, Skokie 68, the Office of Catholic Schools, Stevenson 125, Hawthorn 73, and North Shore 112) receive up to a 50% tuition award towards the required courses to receive an M.Ed. in English Language Teaching & Learning or the English as a Second Language (ESL) Endorsement or 60% tuition award towards the required courses to receive an M.Ed. Teacher Leader and ESL with dual endorsements.
