CJC Professor Organized Reentry Event

Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology Instructor, Brandi Vigil, helped organize the Summit of Hope reentry event on March 24th in Rogers Park.  The Summit of Hope is an Illinois Department of Corrections statewide prison reentry program that provides formerly incarcerated men and women with the support they need to reintegrate into their communities and not recidivate. There were nearly 400 volunteers, about half of whom were Loyola University Chicago students, faculty and staff paired up with over 500 probationers and parolees, also known as returning citizens. During the event Loyola volunteers assisted returning citizens by identifying some of their current needs and connecting them with various community providers and resources.
