Dr. Greenberg joined our department as a Professor in 1996 after teaching previously in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Maryland. Dr. Greenberg received his PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT in 1989 under the direction of Professor Charles Leiserson. In recent years, he has been deeply involved with K--12 outreach and education efforts, including helping spearhead the work leading Chicago Public Schools to be the first large school district to require a computer science course for high school graduation.

Research Interests

His main research efforts have been on identifying good networks for general-purpose parallel computing and developing algorithms in a number of application areas, e.g., routing messages on networks, VLSI wire routing, and sequence analysis problems of interest to computational biologists.
