Julie Jacobi is the Assistant Director for Science Programs at Loyola's Center for Science and Math Education. Julie began her career in education as an elementary school teacher. It was in the classroom that she developed a passion for STEM education. She continued this work at UChicago STEM Education at University of Chicago, where she was on the writing team for the fourth edition of Everyday Mathematics. She joined CSME in 2015 as an instructional coach supporting high-quality, NGSS-aligned science education in the Chicago area. She has presented at national and regional conferences on topics of scientific argumentation, math and science integration, and developing students' scientific identity. Her work with teachers focuses on utilizing powerful instructional strategies that leverage students' personal and cultural funds of knowledge. Julie holds a B.S. in Elementary Education from Western Illinois University and a M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from National Louis University.
