Teacher Spotlight
George Westinghouse College Prep
Nina (pronounced nine-ah) details her journey as an
advocate for social justice led science instruction.
From highlighting women in science to environmental
racism on Chicago’s east side, she embeds culturally
relevant experiences into her science lab and
facilitates rich discourse amongst students. Through
these conversations, students discover connections
between science and the structures around them.
She challenges teachers to know their identity and
explore how their lived experiences impact their
teaching and school community. Listen as Nina talks
about her journey with CSME science coach Kayla Cherry.
