Jaspreet is a master's student in the sociology department at Loyola University Chicago. Her research interests include health disparities, body and labor, gender and sexuality, race, and transnational and postcolonial feminisms. Jaspreet is interested in how mutually enforcing structures of race, gender and class enforce health inequality. Her thesis work focuses on the experiences of South Asian immigrant women as they negotiate and navigate various health systems while living in the United States. More specifically, she is interested in asking how such interactions relate to women’s ideas of themselves as immigrants, members of minority ethnic and racial groups, and as guardians of their family’s health.
