Performance Opportunities

Annual Dance Concert

Every year, our dancers engage in challenging rehearsals and performances of both classical and contemporary choreography for the Department of Fine and Performing Arts’ Annual Dance Concert. Auditions determine casting and concert repertory focuses on masterpieces in classical and contemporary ballet, classical and post-modern techniques, jazz, and contemporary.

The Annual Dance Concert takes place in November.

Dance Senior Solo Showcase

Fall 2015 was the inaugural year of the Dance Senior Showcase. The showcase is comprised of dance works by internationally acclaimed choreographers and culminates in a full ensemble work.

The Dance Senior Solo Showcase takes place in February each year.

Dance Informance

Dance students from all dance classes at Loyola showcase their semester’s work in an informal dance performance. Featuring a wide variety of styles at all levels, the performance offers students the opportunity to demonstrate the progress they have made. This end-of-semester performance celebrates the hard work at each level and creates community within our dance program.

The Dance Informance takes place at the end of each semester.

Dance Composition Performance

Dancers in the dance composition class are tasked with developing, choreographing, and producing original dance pieces. The Dance Composition Performance is the culmination of these works, performed by other dance students in our program.

This showcase takes place at the end of the spring semester.

Other Opportunities

Dance majors participate in a host of co-curricular activities that strengthen artistic practices and serve our commitment to social justice. This includes participation in The American College Dance Association conference, Loyola's Institute for Environmental Sustainability's Annual Climate Change Conference, interdisciplinary collaborations, Loyola's Undergraduate Research Symposium, and international immersion activities, among others.
