José Santiago Pérez is a Chicago based artist and curator from Los Angeles. He works between the languages and methodologies of craft, sculpture, and performance, weaving disposable plastics into markers of time and maerials of intimacy.

José brings a decade of combined experience in museums, nonprofit, and higher education to the Department of Fine and Performing Arts and is thrilled to be partnering with students to shape and share the DFPA story across social media platforms, manage the department website, coordinate department tours, assist with marketing and communications, and serve in other areas of department life.

He received his MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. His work has been exhibited in group shows in San Francisco, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Boston. Solo exhibitions of his craft based sculptures and wall hangings have been presented at Ignition Project Space and Wedge Projects, and his curatorial projects have been exhibited at the Leather Archive & Museum. He has been featured in reviews and interviews in SixtyNewcity Art, and Art Intercepts.
