Students Together Are Reaching Success!

Capstone video project by 2014 STARS LEAD Cohort

Program Description:

The STARS LEAD (Leadership Education and Development) Program provides STARS mentees with an opportunity to develop their leadership skills through the principles of service learning and servant leadership. A cohort of 12 STARS Leaders will volunteer at Family Matters and attend leadership sessions throughout the Spring semester. This program aims to assist students in discovering their passions and learning how to apply them through service.

Family Matters

Family Matters, located in Chicago’s North of Howard neighborhood, offers children and families individualized personal development experiences that provide opportunities to find their place in the world and to be a force for positive change. Utilizing our Principles of Leadership – positive thinking and language, peaceful conflict resolution, and illuminating the power of responsible decision-making – we partner with families to design and implement experiential learning programs tailored to their specific needs and interests.

Family Matters offers safe surroundings where individuals can explore, discover, take risks and determine their futures.
