Requirements and Compensation

LUCES Scholar Position

Term: August 18, 2016–May 1, 2017

Typical Hours Per Week: 7–10 Hours (vary weekly/monthly due to LUCES events and Office Hours schedule)

Eligibility Requirements

  • Full-time undergraduate enrollment for the 2016-2017 academic year
  • Completion of at least two semesters of study
  • Cannot hold a Resident Assistant position
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA (please note that grade checks will occur at the beginning of each semester)
  • In good standing with the University
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Familiarity with the unique experience of Women of Color

LUCES Responsibilities: LUCES Scholars plan AND facilitate 9-10 LUCES events which include: Monthly Gatherings, Off-Campus Retreat, Leadership Summit, WOC Journal, Gala and more. The LUCES Scholars also collaborate with other departmental sponsored organizations (LGBTQIA Scholars, B4E Mentors, Social Justice Peer Educators, and Stars Mentors) to provide the campus with workshops and dialogues that enhance and develop their leadership and identity development.
