Affirming our Commitment to our Transgender Community

Dear Students:

We are all at Loyola because our personal values are steeped in the Jesuit tradition of being people for and with others. With this perspective comes an obligation to speak out and address anything that goes against our history of being a place for all people.

During the Fall 2019 semester, there were a few incidents involving the misuse of menstrual products in some of the men’s restrooms on the Lake Shore Campus. These incidents had a deep and negative impact on our transgender community, and it is important that we come together to support each other.

I call upon all students to demonstrate that ours is a community of care and respect. As always, remember the Student Promise–care for yourself, care for others, and care for the community.
