The DOC is available as a resource to ensure a timely response for urgent concerns raised by students, parents, faculty, staff, or community members. However, the DOC is not intended to replace or interfere with the operations of Campus Safety. If you need assistance during an emergency, call Campus Safety (773 508 6039) or 911. If you need additional assistance after the immediate concern has passed, please feel free to request that the DOC be called.
This depends greatly on the facts of the specific case. In all circumstances, however, students will have the opportunity to explain their perspective and will be treated with dignity and respect.
The DOC is not intended to replace other campus partners. It is important that the various offices of the University (Campus Safety, Wellness Center, Advising, etc.) have the opportunity to provide direct services themselves. However, if you do not know who else to call, then you should consider contacting Campus Safety as they can mobilize a number of resources in an emergency to help (the DOC is among those resources).
