You want to tackle the hard topics and have a deep passion for addressing social justice and equity issues pervasive in school systems. Loyola's master of education in administration and supervision for school leaders program will give you the skills and know-how to tackle these challenges.

Upon graduation with an Educational Leadership for School Leaders MEd, you will possess the following knowledge, skills, and professional values necessary to front all the complexities and issues inherent in running a school or education-based community organization.
Knowledge
You'll be equipped with foundational knowledge in principles of leadership, management, curriculum and instruction, and diversity and inclusion.
Skills
You'll learn how to facilitate data-driven decision making in your school community, and engage in tangible, real-world internship experience to put these ideas into practice.
Professional Values
You'll be a leader and a change agent in your school community, with a deep passion for addressing social justice and equity issues pervasive in school systems.
Curriculum
Choose one of our three masters in educational leadership program pathways to support your career goals:
- MEd Degree Plus ISBE Principal Endorsement Option
- MEd Degree without Principal Endorsement Option
- Principal Endorsement Only Option
The program can be completed in two years, including summers, and requires continuous enrollment.
Continuous Enrollments
Master's students in Educational Leadership programs are required to maintain the status of continuous enrollment during their program of studies. This means that during each semester of each academic year (excluding Summer Sessions), each student must enroll in at least one course. A formal leave of absence may be granted upon request and the approval of the School of Education’s Assistant Dean of Student Academic Affairs.
MEd Degree Plus ISBE Principal Endorsement Option
- Must be a practicing teacher or administrator with at least two years of work experience in your field
- Must be continuously enrolled
- Will earn ISBE Principal Endorsement
- 33 semester hours of completed coursework (6 credit hours per semester, summers included)
- 2 semesters of internship facilitated by world-class district leaders
MEd Degree without Principal Endorsement Option
- Must have at least two years of work experience in your field (not for profit or community organization)
- Must be continuously enrolled
- Degree-seeking ONLY. No ISBE Principal Endorsement.
- 33 semester hours of completed coursework (6 credit hours per semester, summers included)
- 2 semesters of internship facilitated by world class district leaders
Principal Endorsement Only Option
- Must be a practicing teacher or administrator with at least two years of work experience in your field
- Must be continuously enrolled
- Will earn ISBE Principal Endorsement
- 33 semester hours of completed coursework (6 credit hours per semester, summers included)
- 2 semesters of internship facilitated by world class district leaders
- Designed for Chicagoland Partners for English Language Learners (CPELL) teacher leaders who may transfer up to 9 credit hours of prior masters study towards degree
- Upon completion, program may articulate into EdD in Administration and Supervision
Endorsement only Students
A transcript audit will be done prior to admittance. An individualized course of study will be provided to each student before the start of the program.
International and Graduate Students
The full sequence of courses above will be followed to fulfill SOE requirements for a Master’s Degree in Administration and Supervision. A Principal Endorsement will not be issued to out-of-state students or international students who do not hold an IL Professional Educator License and/or meet all ISBE requirements for endorsement.
