English Language Requirements

An official TOEFL, IELTS, PTE, or DuoLingo score report is required for international applicants. Copies of scores are not accepted as official documents; we must receive test scores directly from the testing service.

Minimum Requirements 


IELTS: 6.0

PTE: 53

DuoLingo: 105

This requirement is automatically waived for applicants meeting one of the following qualifications:  

  • U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident
  • U.S. bachelor’s degree in progress or conferred
  • U.S. master’s degree conferred
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree conferred by an institution in the following English speaking countries: United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand or Australia

Transcripts and Credentials

International applicants who have completed their studies outside the United States must present all post-secondary credentials. Credentials must include all grades or examination results and all degrees, diplomas, and certificates earned. Documents must be authentic and certified by the institution or authorized agency. Those not in English must be accompanied by certified English translations. One (1) set of your post-secondary credentials with supporting documents must be submitted to:

The evaluation should be sent to Loyola directly from the credential service. Plan ahead to request this service at least one to two months before submitting your application for admission.
