Mellon Foundation Unpaid Academic Internship Award

Mellon Foundation Award for Engagement for Unpaid Academic Internships

Loyola University Chicago undergraduate students currently enrolled in an Academic Internship course where the internship is UNPAID are eligible to apply for $1,500 funding. Ten students will be selected based on application and financial need. The application deadline is February 15, 2021.
As a recipient of this fund, students will be asked to participate in the following activities.
  1. Be enrolled in an Academic Internship course in Spring 2021 semester.
  2. Provide a photo, bio, and description of internship
  3. Submit a copy of your Learning Agreement
  4. Present at the Spring 2021 Virtual Undergraduate Research and Community Engagement Symposium
If they are awarded the funds, students will then have to submit three short reflection essays on their experience at the end of the semester.

Once applications are reviewed, all applicants will be informed whether they have been selected for an in person interview. After the in person interview finalist will be informed that they have been selected as a candidate for the Mellon Foundation funding.

Virtual Interviews: Week of March 1st via Zoom 

Notification of Finalists: Week of March 15th

All final payments are processed through Loyola's Accounts Payable department. Students will have to complete all required paperwork in order to receive payments, which can take at least a month to be received.
