Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Scholar, Summer 2022

Overview

To support Loyola educators’ (faculty, staff, and graduate student) requests for additional expertise and support for engaging in the scholarship of teaching and learning (SOTL) research, the Faculty Center for lgnatian Pedagogy (FCIP) seeks diverse candidates for a SOTL Faculty Scholar. This person will provide guidance on how to present and publish SOTL research, and how to systematically share SOTL work. Reporting to FCIP’s co-director, the successful candidate will demonstrate a record of publications in SOTL. 

Any full-time (tenure-track or non-tenure track) or part-time faculty members with SOTL experience are encouraged to apply. This position is for summer 2022. Most of the work can be done remotely. The work can be completed in regular weekly intervals, or in a condensed timeframe during the summer. An FCIP staff member will meet with you to help you map out the timing and scope of the work. The SOTL Scholar will receive a $1500 stipend.

  • Create several ways to systematically share SOTL work at FCIP and LUC (e.g., on FCIP website, in partnership with LUC libraries, through conferences) 
  • Design professional development sessions about SOTL in multiple formats (e.g., asynchronous, in person) to help educators develop a basic understanding of SOTL and build SOTL research skills  
  • Serve as a consultant to FCIP’s cohort of SOTL fellows by providing guidance on their SOTL research projects during the summer 
  • Knowledge of basic SOTL skills (where to publish, how to go about SOTL, etc.) 
  • Proven record of publications in SOTL related areas 
  • Experience designing professional development sessions is preferred

Priority will be given to candidates who submit their application materials by May 1, 2022, at 5pm CST. Applications will be reviewed by a small team. The selected candidate will be notified on May 20, 2022. The start date and hours are flexible, and the work will need to be completed by August 26, 2022.
