Description: Being able to demonstrate compassion, empathy, and flexibility when interacting with students is now more important than ever. How, though, do you demonstrate the same compassion, empathy, and flexibility toward yourself? What do you do when you need support? During this session, you will hear recommendations for how to use trauma-informed approaches to care for yourself to maximize your teaching effectiveness now and into the future. You also will engage in discussion with colleagues about different strategies they are using to take care of themselves as they support their students.

What are some self-care strategies to lower stress associated with teaching? To lower stress generally?

How does COVID-19 and recent resurfacings of racist violence and police brutality influence our ability to engage in self-care?
