Lisa Knepshield began as the full-time Fellowship Advisor in October 2011, after having run the Fellowship Office for the UIC Graduate College for six years. She has given several presentations on fellowship funding at conferences of the National Association of Fellowship Advisors, the Council of Graduate Schools, and the Council for Opportunity in Education. She has served as a national panel reader for multiple years for the Gilman Scholarship, Critical Language Scholarship, the Asian and Pacific Islander Scholarship Fund, and the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers. Prior to becoming a professional fellowship advisor, Lisa worked in international education for nine years, first at the Institute of International Education with international grantees of the Fulbright Program (among others), then as Assistant Director of the UIC Office of International Services, working with international faculty.
